Our Mission: Temple Beth-El is an intimate, diverse Jewish congregation which seeks to be a center for spiritual fulfillment, life-long learning, social and cultural enrichment, and community leadership. We are committed to teaching our heritage as an evolving tradition.
Our congregation comprises sixty-five memberships. Most of them are families, and about a quarter of them are single members. We draw from a radius of approximately 30 miles. The number of families in our congregation has remained stable for the past 20 years.
Temple Beth-El takes pride in and attaches great importance to its Religious School program, which includes Hebrew and Jewish holidays, history, prayer, ethics and music. Classes range from pre-school through middle school level. Students begin mid-week Hebrew in the fourth grade, and are encouraged to remain for Confirmation, post Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Our children actively participate in services and are encouraged to remain involved.
Adult education has included weekly classes in basic Hebrew and has covered classical Jewish sources as well as the Torah portion, holidays and other subjects. Special arrangements for study have been made upon request. Several members have been educated in lay leadership of Shabbat services.
